Smooth and Flowing

Rowing, like other endurance based aerobic pursuits (such as swimming, running, cycling, skating, etc), is naturally smooth and flowing

The WaterRower, like rowing, fatigues the user purely aerobically. Many other rowing machines imitate the action of rowing, but they do so mechanically. This induces a mechanical fatigue, lacking the natural dynamics experienced when moving a boat down the river

The mass of the water contained in the WaterRower's WaterFlywheel acts to simulate the mass of the boat and crew. This mass does not change, it is the same throughout the stroke; from beginning to end

The WaterRower responds to the work applied allowing constant effort through the whole stroke, unlike resistance based machines where effort is high at the beginning of the stroke and fades as the resistance is overcome

We recommend a water level of 18 litres, changing this level can be used to simulate a different class (or weight) of boat or different gearing setting
