The Appalachian Mountains

Our Verified Sustainable Hardwoods are sourced from the Appalachian Mountain region of the eastern United States (see map), where planting rates exceed harvest rates by an average multiple of 2.29. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Inventory and Analysis research has found that annual timber harvest levels in the 344-county Appalachian Hardwood Region have been substantially less than net annual growth for more than 50 years. Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers, Inc. (AHMI) has verified data from the U.S. Forest Service that timber harvesting from the Appalachian Hardwood Territory as defined by AHMI is able to meet present needs without compromising those of future generations sustainably. The Appalachian Hardwood Timber resource includes more than 65.4 million acres in the eastern United States and provides the world with a bounty of the finest hardwood species. AHMI is an association of lumber producers and suppliers who manufacture and distribute the lumber and products from this region.

The WaterRower Roots

The Blue Print to Fitness for over 25 years

Designed in the mid '80s by Yale and US National Team Rower John Duke who formed WaterRower Inc in 1988 in Rhode Island, in the North Eastern United States. Today our Americas Headquarters continues to be based in Rhode Island, in the small coastal town of Warren

WaterRower (UK) Ltd was formed in 1991 to market and distribute the WaterRower throughout Europe under license to WaterRower Inc. Initially with offices in Fulham, London, a 1993 agreement provided WaterRower (UK) Ltd with the additional right to manufacture the WaterRower for Europe. Workshops were established in the idyllic stately home of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, Mapperton Manor

In 1995 the UK offices and workshop were combined under one roof in Ravenscourt Park, in West London, and moved to larger premises in nearby Acton in 2005. The Acton offices remains the European Headquarters to this day.

A 1998 merger brought the two entities, WaterRower Inc and WaterRower (UK) Ltd under common ownership. Today WaterRower’s Board of Directors meets in London.

In 2000 WaterRower Australia Pty Ltd was formed, to service Australasia and the Asian Region on the way to creating a global network of offices to service our markets and customers.

Today WaterRower has over 70 staff in 11 global offices while manufacturing all our products in the Warren facility.
